| 30 | It was wonderful to browse through all of the
paintings/artwork and view the whole site! In the painting "Ishtar, 3rd tirage" you wrote about the difficulties to discern between Ishtar and Inanna and I can humbly (er, well) state that Inanna was a Sumerian goddess originally (and kinda more "peaceful") and she later merged into the Akkadian war-goddess Ishtar and became kinda more hostile compared to her earlier Sumerian version, as the Akkadians (a Semitic people who invaded Sumer/South Iraq) were sort of more warlike than the Sumerians. So you were right on the money to refer to your goddess as "Ishtar" which is apt, considering her ample array of weapons. Anyway, very nice site and very good artwork. |
